Visual Context in UI tasks

Over time, linguists translating Tableau content regularly get accustomed to and more familiar with Tableau products. At the beginning, though, it can be pretty daunting to try and visualize what you are translating, mostly in the UI. In this section, we will add a few screenshots with the strings which proved to be challenging to translate in the past.

Don't forget that UI translations also go through Contextual Linguistic Testing (CLT, read more about this task ➡️here) and you can get more insight into the Tableau products via screenshots we share with our testers. They are always saved on our FTP, in monthly production folders, with CLT in the folder name, for example: 🗃️/Tableau/FromJTE/TAS120158_Tableau_Software_11-2023/20231023_CLT_2024.1_MAIN_DROP2_HO_2023-10-23. Each zip also contains en-US pictures for reference.

!IMPORTANT!: We run a CLT task after the usual UI-Main task (since this task is about testing our UI translations in context) so you will not be able to find visual reference for strings if you are working on regular UI tasks. However, if you are working on a translation backlog (e.g. when we add a new language, we translate the whole UI content we've worked on so far), the screenshots from CLT tasks can be a valuable reference.
