Phrase Tips and Tricks

How to change the quotation marks?

Since all languages have their own quotation marks and apostrophe rules, please check your style guide, and update the quotation format before starting your work.

How to work with Preview feature?

Preview tab can be useful to identify segments in bug fixing step or to provide a reference; however, it significantly slows down the performance of Phrase while working with large files. If you see a slow performance on Phrase web editor, please disable the Preview pane.

How to edit locked segments?

If you need to change any of the locked segments in the Bug fixing/QA check stage, please do so by clicking on the target segment and pressing the F2 button. It does not unlock the segment, but lets you edit the target.

How to run a QA check?

You can run a QA after you are done with your translation, so you can fix major issues, if any.

Note: We asked Tableau for an option to exclude locked segments (101% matches) from QA during the project setup to reduce number of false positive issues during the QA.

How to filter?

If you want to check for untranslated, unconfirmed, unlocked or other types of segments, you can filter from under here.

If you want to filter by Key/Context key(for example, this may be needed during the bug fixing stage), you need to check the box Context Key in the Filter settings first. You can then copy the Key/String ID in the Search box.

What to do once you are done with the translation?

After you are done, please do not Deliver (Complete) the task. Since you will need access to the project during implementation of QA reports or bugs, please leave project’s status as “Accepted” and let us know only via e-mail that you translated the project.
